Resources – Drought and Excessive Moisture

Through interviews with representatives from the energy sector and local and provincial governments, this study seeks to understand how the sector has coped with historic extreme climate events and adjusted its practices in light of lessons learned. Insights gained through this review could help efforts to build the capacity of industry and governments to plan and manage for anticipated future climatic changes.

This study makes recommendations for the development of a provincial-level strategy to increase the adaptive capacity of the agricultural sector in the context of reducing risk and vulnerability to excessive moisture.

This preparedness plan assesses the vulnerability of the Old Wives Lake watershed to drought and excessive moisture and identifies priority issues for action. As a part of a pilot project, the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority hosted a workshop, drafted plans in four pilot watersheds and initiated planning in two additional watersheds in partnership with local nonprofit stewardship agencies.
